Kooey Australia teams with reigning Miss Universe Australia on new swimwear collection
There's nothing better than a parade. Ok, well maybe one thing -- A BIKINI PARADE! In the great tradition of the St. Patrick's Day Parade, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and the Electric Parade at Walt Disney World, the competitive folks in Panama City Beach, Florida just broke the Guinness World Record for the world's largest bikini parade, breaking the record held by Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast of Australia near Brisbane. 450 women in two piece swimsuits strutted for one mile to benefit charity, and the strict rules provided that one-pieces and even tankinis were not allowed. The only thing missing from this parade was some tunes from John Phillip Sousa. Do you think Bikini.com can get naming rights for this event?

Australian swimwear label, Kooey Australia has just sent Bikini.com a sneak peek of select images from their 2012 campaign. The campaign was recently shot in Margaret River, Western Australia with the faces of Kooey, Emily Cattermole and James O'Halloran, who were joined this year by Miss Universe Australia 2011, Scherri-Lee Biggs and model Adam Erceg. The shoot was produced by Kooey designers, Nikki Silverthorne and Charlene Harmer. Creating and mythical and whimsical look, the shoot plays out like a good vs. evil modern day fairytale.
Check out the latest swimwear collection from Australia's popular swimsuit brand White Sands, the company that epitomizes the carefree Aussie seaside lifestyle. From feminine bikinis to chic one-pieces, the collection is always sunny and sophisticated. Bikini.com caught up with designer Leah Madden backstage just moments before her White Sands runway show during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami.
Springing from the hippy, happy surfer town Byron Bay, Australia, Lisa Blue brings uniquely beautiful swimwear to the world. With designs ranging from authentic Australian Aboriginal prints to hot sexy Renaissance art to edgy and elegant Galactic pieces featuring metallic panels and studs, Lisa Blue compliments all.
The collection bridges the ancient world with the modern world and brings a greater appreciation to the original cultural beauty of Australia. The aboriginal style prints are derived from Rose Miller’s exquisite Australian Aboriginal paintings. Designer Lisa Burke united with friends Rose Miller (from the Mirning/whale tribe, South Australia) and Bunna Lawrie, a close relative of Rose and one of the last traditional whale dreamers on earth, to help win the good fight to save the whales and dolphins.
Lisa Blue reflects the inner beauty of the modern girl who cares to make a difference and is a pioneer in combining beautiful fashion together with a cause to help preserve our marine environment. 25% of the profit for Lisa Blue is donated to the AWCS – the Australian Whale Conservation Society, which is dedicated to whale and dolphin conservation, education and research. Lisa Blue not only gives an unusually generous eco friendly donation but, as the swimwear is made in Australia using premium fabric imported from Italy, they cater to both the sporty girl who rides the waves, the girl who simply enjoys frolicking on the beach and the girl who just wants to look fabulous by the pool.
The rain didn't stop Australian designer Lisa Burke from putting on an amazing first solo swimwear show for her Lisa Blue Swimwear line during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim Week at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami Beach. With a fully packed house, she showed 35 looks from the 2012 collection. The collection showcased designs inspired by everything from aboriginal designs to intergalactic themes.
The swimwear label Lisa Blue was born out of a love of conservation, spirituality and a respect for all people. Designer Burke has a passion for whale and dolphin conservation in Australia, and pledges 25% of her profits to helping save the whales and dolphins, (it's her way of doing something for the environment after a life-changing experience with a humpback whale.) The money is donated to the Australian Whale Conservation Society (www.awcs.org.au).
