And now…more hot-off-the-press reports from the mecca of the swimwear world, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim runway shows in Miami Beach, which give industry insiders a sneak peek at the swimwear you’ll be seeing on the beach next year. Returning for another successful year, Ed Hardy Swimwear kept its edgy California-inspired look fashion forward with an eclectic mix of designs, colors and fabrics inspired by tattoo artist Don Ed Hardy.
The 2010 Ed Hardy swimwear collection produced by Los Angeles-based Sea and Sun, offers “mix and match” separates, Lurex fabrics, strategically placed tigers and unique embellishments including custom hardware. Fawn Arthur, creative director for Sea and Sun, brought the collection in a fresh different direction for 2010, with details including screen-printing, textures, foils and graffiti. The Ed Hardy swimwear show is always the hottest ticket in town, and for good reason (even D.J. Irie spins the tunes.) It's perfect to channel that rock and roller in you.
Celebs including Madonna, Shakira, Janet Jackson, David Beckham, Eva Longoria, Kim Kardashian, Jessica Alba, Christina Milian and Hillary Swank are all fans of Ed Hardy designs. To promote the Ed Hardy designer swimwear line created by French designer Christian Audigier, the good people at Ed Hardy Swimwear put together an “only in Miami” fashion fantasy event – the world’s first edible bikini.
Done in association with Sushi Samba (one of the hot spots on Miami Beach’s trendy Lincoln Road) on Saturday, a savory, two-piece edible replica of Ed Hardy’s 2010 “Trellis” suit was unveiled on a basking beauty soaking up the sun. Inspired by the urban streets and influenced by Japan, Brazil and Peru, sweet tropical hues of yellow and pinks were represented by beets, reds with strawberries, dark hues by blueberries and greens by banana leaf accents.
We thought we had seen it all, but this edible bikini was a first for Bikini.com. We are just curious if the grapes turned into wine when the model sat down.
If you love Ed Hardy, you're not alone. The biggest celebrities in the world, ranging from Madonna, Shakira, Janet Jackson, Eva Longoria, Beyonce and Jessica Alba, to Shaquille O'Neal and David Beckham are fans of sexy French designer Christian Audigier's vintage tattoo inspired designs.
The swimwear line is the newest addition to the Ed Hardy apparel collection, and each piece is individually made with the creative original Ed Hardy tattoo graphics such as hearts, roses, skulls and flames. The prints are sublimated into rich Italian swimwear fabrics and then adorned with crystals, jeweled hardware and colorful foiling to make each style totally dazzling and unique. You have to have the body and attitude to carry these swimsuits off, but if you do, you'll totally look like a rock star. (And yes that goes for the men's collection too.)
The Ed Hardy swimwear fashion show was one of the most fun we've ever attended, with all kinds of celebs including TV hostess/model Cindy Taylor and colorful basketball player Dennis Rodman. There were several swinging Christian Audigier/Ed Hardy after parties, including one at Miami Beach hotspot Mynt hosted by luscious swimsuit supermodel and friend of Bikini.com Joanna Krupa. Party like a rock star!
